Service Above Self

International Outreach

We are blogging about our experiences while we are in KI!  Stay updated through our blog here at rotaractki2014.blogspot.ca

This year our service trip will be to a First Nations reserve community called KI (Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug) located in Northern Ontario. We have chosen to form a partnership with the youth of KI because the housing and general living conditions on most Canadian reserves are far worse than the conditions that we take for granted.

The trip will run from April 28 to May 9, with 11 travellers taking part in our service trip.
The three main goals of the project will be:
1. Youth Leadership Development
2. Housing Restoration
3. Cultural Exchange

We welcome any donations you are willing to provide as they will go a long way to ensure our trip's success! Please contact us at queensrotaract@gmail.com for more information. Tax receipts can be provided.

Please contact Alex Gasser at 1ag15@queensu.ca or Annie Hollis at 0amh@queensu.ca with any questions!

More About Our Projects:

The Rotaract Club runs an international outreach project each year. The projects have been based in El Salvador for the past few years, where our members built houses for families in need in shelter.

These projects give our members the opportunity to explore new cultures and places while contributing positively to the development of a specific region. These trips are usually coordinated by the established Rotaract Club in the area, which helps us tailor each project to the needs of the local population. The involvement of foreign Rotaract Clubs also lets our members build a worldwide network through Rotary International.

A select number of Rotaractors are chosen for each trip through an application process. The International Coordinators run interviews at the end of September to select their team members. If you have any questions about the trip or the program, email the Queen’s Rotaract account at queensrotaract@gmail.com.
